The Develop with Light Circle
A monthly creative community for photographers who want to keep going.
Making photographs alone is hard. Having someone in your corner changes everything.
Here's what nobody talks about.
You pick up your camera. You try the double exposure you saw on Instagram. It doesn't look right. You try again. Still not it. You put the camera down and tell yourself maybe this style isn't for you.
It is for you. You just needed someone to show you what to do when you get stuck — and a room full of people who have been stuck in exactly the same way.
That's the Circle.
A place to learn, experiment, and not give up.
A new creative prompt — a theme, a technique, or a challenge designed to push you somewhere you wouldn't go on your own. Not homework. An invitation.
A live session with me — we look at work, talk through what's working, explore what to try next. Real conversation, not a recorded lecture.
An honest community — photographers at every level who are working through the same creative questions. A place to share your experiments without fear of judgment. A place where the blurry, imperfect, almost-there image is just as welcome as the one you're proud of.
Creative unblocking resources — lessons and guides for the moments when the well runs dry. What to do when you feel nothing. How to get unstuck. How to keep the practice alive when life gets in the way.
Every month inside the Circle, you get:
This is not a course you finish. It's a practice you return to.
This might be for you if...
You've taken workshops and courses but still feel like something's missing — and you think that something might be community.
You love creative photography techniques but lose steam when you try them alone.
You want someone to tell you your work is worth continuing — someone whose eye you trust.
You're at a point in life where you have space to invest in your creativity, and you want to use it well.
You've been following along from a distance and you're ready to come inside.
Why I built this.
I know what it feels like to be in a creative drought. To pick up the camera and feel nothing — or worse, to feel something and not know how to get it into an image.
What I've learned over years of making photographs and teaching others is that creativity isn't something you have or don't have. It's something you practice. And practice is almost always easier with other people around.
I built the Circle because I kept seeing the same thing: someone would try a technique, struggle, and quietly disappear. All they needed was a small push. Someone to say: what you're doing is hard, and you're closer than you think.
That's what I want to offer here. Not a course with a finish line. A community with a heartbeat.
What it's like to be here.

— Abi Coop
“Joining Ute's Develop with Light group was the best decision over the holidays. I found a whole family of like-minded creatives. Her monthly themes pushed me to explore new techniques and develop my own voice."
— Helene"Ute's community has encouraged me to experiment again — it's vibrant, supportive, and full of light."
— Paul Hornsby

A few things people ask
-
No. The Circle is for photographers at every stage who are drawn to creative, expressive work. What matters is curiosity, not experience level.
-
Double exposure, prisms, intentional camera movement, slow shutter, light play — the same territory as the Develop with Light workshop, explored month by month through prompts and live sessions.
-
They're separate but complementary. The workshop is a self-paced course you own. The Circle is an ongoing community. You don't need the workshop to join the Circle, but many members have done both.
-
Yes. No long-term commitment required.
-
You'll receive an email when the Circle is ready to open. Waitlist members get first access and founding member pricing.
